Melitta SystemService GmbH and Co KG manufactures and distributes super automatic specialty equipment. The manufacturing brands include both Melitta and Cafina (our Swiss subsidiary), with manufacturing facilities in Minden, Germany, and in Hunzenschwill Switzerland. In the USA, we maintain our own technical and customer service, R&D, and field service dispatch groups to look after our North American Customer Base.
Field Service Technician - Automatic Espresso Coffee Machines (Shreveport, LA, Chicago, IL, Sterling Heights, MI, Big Rapids, MI)
Duties include:
- Installing new machines
- Troubleshooting and repair of electronic systems
- Performing preventative maintenance on all machines in your service area
- Covering other service areas as needed
- Basic in store training for owner/operators
- Evaluation of finished product taste and appearance; Latte, Cappuccino, etc
- Some evening and week-end on call is required
- This is a daily road warrior type position
Qualifications:
- 4-8 years electro-mechanical experience.
- Previous field service experience required.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude
- Technical degree or previous electro-mechanical training
- Ability to work independently and organize one's own activities
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
- Skilled with the use of hand tools and test instruments such as multimeters
- Superior customer service skills
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record
- Techs will incur minor, reimbursable expenses each month
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and 70 occasionally
- Experience in the coffee industry is helpful, but not required
Technical Service Trainer
Duties include:
- Conduct hands on classes for field service technicians, customer technicians and 3rd party service providers in machine installation, repair, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting
- Perform field service work and machine installations
- Conduct in-field training via ride-alongs with internal and external technicians to reinforce the formal classroom training provided, evaluate capabilities and provide instruction and coaching with regard to troubleshooting techniques, PM performance and machine operation.
- Provide support for new and existing field service technicians
- Instruct technicians in the setup and calibration of new espresso machines
- Provide telephone support to guide technicians in the troubleshooting and repair of electrical, hydraulic and electronic systems
- Evaluate finished product taste and appearance; Espresso, Latte, Cappuccino, etc.
- Provide In store training for customers and machine operators
- Write service bulletins and instructions for service procedures
- Travel is required 25%-70%
- Strong communication and training skills both written and verbal
- Technical degree or previous electro-mechanical training
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude
- Skilled with the use of hand tools and test instruments such as multimeters

Lead In House Espresso Machine Service Technician
Duties include:
- Troubleshooting and repair of electrical, hydraulic and electronic systems
- Diagnosing technical problems accurately and professionally
- Guiding other employees to help develop their skills
- Evaluating and Repairing returned machines
- Rebuilding valve groups, brewing assemblies and small steam boilers
- Rebuilding coffee grinders
- Compiling records and productivity reports
- Evaluation of finished product taste and appearance; Latte, Cappuccino, etc
- Understanding how all the elements come together in our equipment
- 3-7 years electro-mechanical experience.
- Electronics or related degree preferred.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude
- Skilled with the use of hand tools and test instruments such as multimeters
- Proficient with MS Office applications
- Experience in the coffee industry is helpful, but not required
